Galena’s 35th annual Halloween parade will take place on Main Street beginning on the corner of Main Street and Green Street at 6:30 p. m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
People dressed as ghosts, vampires, monsters and more will march down Main Street. Spectacular floats and marching bands will accompany them, and several hot air balloons will light up the street as they make their way down it.
A new addition to this year’s events will be the Halloween Festival taking place that Saturday on both Washington and Perry streets starting at 2 p. m. and lasting through the parade.
To accommodate the high volume of parade-goers, there will be three shuttle buses operating between 4 and 9 p. m., excluding parade times between 6:30 and 8:30 p. m. Shuttle parking and pickup will be at the Walmart, Signcraft, Recreation Park and Depot parking lots.
At 4 p. m. on Oct. 26, parking will not be allowed on the east or west side of Main Street from Green Street to Franklin Street. Barricades will be put in place Saturday morning.
Water Street will become one way, going south from Franklin Street to Green Street (the opposite of what it normally is: one way going north).
At 5:15 p. m., Water Street between Green and Warren streets will be closed to allow for parade line-up.
