GALENA FOURTH OF JULY -July 4, Recreation Park and downtown Galena. Spend the morning and afternoon at Recreation Park for kid’s activities, mud volleyball, softball, a euchre tournament and more. Then make your way downtown in the afternoon for live music at the Green Street Plaza, followed by the community parade at 6 pm. There will be food from 4-9:30 pm, with fireworks launched from Grant Park at dusk. and

STOCKTON FOURTH OF JULY -July 4. Food and craft vendors, basketball and baseball tournaments, live music, a car show, barbecue chicken meal and fireworks to cap off the day.

PAINTING WITH MIA -July 9, 5-7 pm, Maggie Black, 116 S Main St, Galena. Sign up is required for this event, which has a cost of $15.

FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS -July 9, 7:30 pm, Turner Hall, 115 S Bench St. NOLA: Traditional New Orleans Jazz Band performs toe-tapping New Orleans-style jazz influenced by blues, gypsy swing, gospel and rhythm and blues. The band consists of eight individuals who excel on cornet, clarinet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals. Free event.

FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS -July 13, noon, Galena Public Library, 615 S Bench St, Galena. Wes Luke, violinist, will perform extremely virtuosic, high-romantic violin music selected from the Ysaye sonatas. While explaining important aspects of the music, this artist will present an energetic, but accessible, program that will delight. Free event.

FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS -July 14, 7:30 pm, ensemble 135 at Grace Episcopal Church, 107 S Prospect St, Galena. Featuring Corey Mackey, principal clarinetist in the Dubuque Symphony, as well as Allan Cordingley on saxophone and Elaina Burns on piano, ensemble 135 brings infectious energy to a diverse and audience-friendly program. Free event. FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS -July 15, 7:30 pm, Corkey Siegel and Howard Levy at Turner Hall, 115 S Bench St, Galena. The legendary Corky Siegel is known internationally as one of the world’s great blues harmonica players and is a celebrated composer, blues pianist, singer, songwriter, band leader and author. Universally acknowledged as the world’s most advanced diatonic harmonica player, Grammy award winner Howard Levy is a musician without limits, dipping into jazz, pop, rock, world music, Latin, classical, folk, blues, country, theater and film. Free event.

FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS -July 16, 7:30 pm, The Broadway Songbook at Turner Hall, 115 S Bench St, Galena. The final concert of the 2016 series will feature the remarkable voices of the Florentine Opera Company of Milwaukee as they sing classic Broadway hits that have become part of the American songbook. Free event.

ANTIQUE TOWN ROD CAR SHOW & POKER RUN -July 16-17, Depot Park, Galena. On Saturday, the road tour and poker run will take place, giving participants 989 miles of scenic views and rolling hills. On Sunday, from 9 am-3 pm, the car show will be held on the river front at Depot Park.

NORTHWEST ILLINOIS ART AND JAZZ FEST -July 16-17, 10 am-5 pm, Stockton Memorial Park, US 20 W and Pearl St, Stockton. Stop by and shop with regional artists, sip on local wine & beer, listen to live jazz entertainment and be transformed, both mind and spirit.

Annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Library, the book sale offers a wide variety of books.

JO DAVIESS COUNTY FAIR -Aug 4-7, Jo Daviess County Fairgrounds, 900 High St, Warren. Celebrate at the oldest fair in Illinois. Livestock shows, exhibits, Badger State Tractor Pull, rodeo, demolition derby, live entertainment, fair foods, carnival rides and more.

MIDWEST GARLIC FESTIVAL -Aug 13-14, 10 am-9 pm, Terrapin Park and various locations in Elizabeth. A celebration of garlic, food, family and music, the goal is to bring naturally-grown gourmet garlic to the table as well as support local farms, restaurants, chefs and establishments in our community that help promote a healthy, organic, farm-to-table lifestyle.
