GALENA CENTER FOR THE ARTS –219SummitSt, Galena, 815-7770410. The Galena Center for the Arts is an Illinois non-profit organization created to elevate and celebrate regional art and artists. They offer rotating exhibits every two months, along with permanent exhibits displaying local talent.

GALENA CLAY WORKS –704 Dewey Ave, Galena. 815-978-7765, Galena Clay Works features the artwork of Kent Henderson. Henderson’s clay works are all made and fired on the premises. He produces both functional and nonfunctional (sculptural pieces) pottery. The functional work is suitable for food, cooking and is dishwasher safe. April through Thanksgiving.

GRACE EPISCOPAL ARTS –309 Hill St, Galena, 815-777-2590. The unique gallery of Grace Episcopal Arts is the original Parish House of Grace Episcopal Church. There are four exhibits each year–either a single artist or groups. Past exhibits in the gallery include a quilt exhibit, posters and

postcards, and photographs.

HELLO GALENA! –121 N Commerce St, Galena, 815-777-1448. Hello Galena! offers a variety of unique gifts and artwork for all ages made entirely by Galena area artists. Items include paintings, pottery, jewelry, greeting cards, children’s books and hand-knit items. Each month they have a featured artist opening in the evening.

IMAGES OF NATURE –421 S Main St, Galena, 800-281-4478. Images of Nature features the limited edition photography of world-renowned wildlife and nature photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen. Books, fine art posters, art cards, calendars and DVDs are also available. Mangelsen enjoys visiting the gallery during autumn for an artist reception. He has released his first limited edition photograph of Illinois that was captured right here in Galena. It is on display in the gallery.

JANET CHECKER STUDIO –115 S High St, Galena, 815-777-2277. Janet Checker Studio offers visitors a chance to see Checker’s original works which include oils, pastels and small paintings. On weekends in the summer months she can often be seen painting in her coach house and talking with visitors as they walk by. Checker offers classes and workshops that are available by appointment.

MAGGIE BLACK –116 S Main St, Galena, 815-599-1724. You’ll know the building when you see the curved staircase. Maggie Black is a blend of art and interior design, meant to truly bring beauty home. The store features a myriad of artists, from Curt Brock and his glowing blown glass lamps to Jane Chukas and her pastel interpretations of the driftless region.

PINDER POTTERY & GALLERY –236 N Main St, Galena, 815-2910618. Joe Pinder brings his unique pottery and 29 years of experience creating wheel-thrown, stoneware pottery to Galena. Pinder has been active in the local art scene since he moved to Galena in 2009 and created the Galena Studio Tours to promote art events throughout the year. There are daily pottery demonstrations and a step-by-step pottery story.

RIVER BEND GALLERY –313SMainSt, Galena. GeoffreyMikolisa professional artist who owns River Bend Gallery with his family. As a person born with Down syndrome, Mikol has found a special connection with photography as a means of expressing himself. His artwork is stunning and often technically difficult, catching elusive light that the eye sees but that cameras often miss. He has a talent for capturing moments in nature that still the soul and quiet your senses.
